The Brief
The kitchen in this family home in the village of Ruddington needed a makeover. The couple have grown up children and grandchildren so lots of visitors. They wanted to open up the space, install a modern, sleek new kitchen and improve the flow and sociability of the area. They liked the idea of adding a peninsular and or island so they could incorporate a breakfast bar/seating area.
The Solution
The customers debated between an island and peninsula design for the kitchen, however a traditional peninsula didn’t work in the space. Our designers came up with a stunning curved design which the customer loved. The peninsular created a large area which offered space for a double sink lots of worktop area and space for 3 chairs.
The kitchen is Stanton Bespoke Frame kitchen. This range of units have a slab door. A slab door is a solid flat door with no frame or panel. A bespoke frame is made in large pieces so the units look like they are one as opposed to each door having its own frame.
The dark units are Little Dock Green Blue and the pink units are colour matched from an item that the customer brought to us. The worktops are Quartz. The peninsula has two under mounted stainless-steel sinks with Clearwater Filter Tap also in stainless steel. The handles are Second Nature, D handle’s in black satin finish.
There are some storage solutions of note in this kitchen; pull out larder units from the Fine Finish range with a bespoke fitted oak wine rack above plus Second Nature base pull out units.
Design Features
The curved peninsular is a gorgeous feature of this kitchen, they aren’t commonplace however are growing in popularity as techniques make curves easier to manufacture and materials that shape more readily available. The soft curve of this peninsula makes a great feature in the kitchen. Housing the sink in the curve gives a great view out over the garden. There is plenty of space for seating and there is a large, useful working area between the hob and the sink. The shape of the peninsula left a quirky little corner space, we built a bespoke, full length cabinet to nestle in this space. It is different, individual, functional and looks great. One of our favourite features of this kitchen.
