The Brief
This kitchen was designed for a new build house. The customer wanted an open plan, light and airy family, kitchen diner. They wanted a luxury, modern feel with elements of traditional kitchen design. They also wanted an island in the kitchen.
The Solution
The customers choose the Shaker style Cossington smooth unit door with bead detail, in alabaster and door handles that are of a more traditional design. The worktops and island are the stunning Fantasia, black granite. The U Shaped kitchen has symmetrical units across the back wall. There is a group of nine drawers under the cooker and the end wall units above the cooker are curved, giving softer edges and eye-catching detail. The mid level units house the triple oven and have a contrasting top and shelf. The central island gives additional preparation space and also forms a boundary between the cooking and living/dining area. The island has an overhang to form a seating area.
Design Features
Mid height units give the usability of the eye level ovens but don’t dominate the kitchen. The wooden top and shelf above these mid height units contrast beautifully with the granite and tie in with the floor whilst providing additional storage and/or display space in the kitchen.
Choosing granite with lots of veins in for the island adds interest to the surface and creates more of a feature.
