The Brief
The new open-plan kitchen was created by knocking through the original kitchen and living room, with a side extension added. The clients wanted their new kitchen-living room to have a practical working area coupled with a very strong social element and a classic look throughout the space. They opted for a mix almond and suede painted Shaker cabinetry, a timeless colour scheme that is perfect to create an easy-living ambience. The design fulfils the requirement for ample storage, including both hidden systems such as the magic corner, as well as decorative open shelving for display purposes and to keep recipe books to hand.
Designer's Tips
The island, although small, provides a central working area with additional storage and is surfaced in a contrasting timber worktop which adds warmth to the interior. The clients are delighted with their new kitchen as it has completely transformed how they use the space, offering so much scope for family gatherings and entertaining friends.
