The Brief
This snug was a project for a client’s cottage in Rushcliffe. The client had recently moved into the property and was under taking a programme of redecoration in order to make the home her own. The client wanted fitted bookcases a window seat/bench and somewhere to place a TV to match a large free standing bookcase that sits along one wall of the room.
The Solution
Fine Finish Furniture designed the bookcases to fit into the alcoves with shelfing and cupboards. The tops of the cupboards are solid oak. The doors on the cupboards are a raise and fielded door which gives a nice cottagey feel. One of the cupboards is angled to fit snuggly around the corner of the room that then leads into the seating; this also provides a convenient place for a small TV to go. The cupboards themselves are painted MDF which gives a smooth non grained finish the same as the free standing piece of furniture.
Key Design Features
The room has some awkward pipe work which is all covered up with the bespoke sized and fitted units, the pipes sit behind one of the bookcases and under the window seat. The architrave is a particularly nice feature in this room; this was made specifically for this customer so it matched the existing bookcase.
Top Tips
The fit out of this room is completely bespoke; the stand alone piece of furniture was discontinued however we were able to re-create the colours and style within our factory. So, a top tip from us is to ask! If you have a specific requirement or a certain style that you would like you may well be able to have something built that meets your requirements perfectly and remember anything can be fitted not just kitchens and bedrooms.
If you have cupboards/desks etc that have different tops the same surface can also be used on a window sill this helps to tie all elements of the room together.
