When it comes to functional spaces, the landing isn’t an obvious choice, but with good design it could become a useful storage, work or study space.
If you have a staircase, you almost certainly have a landing. It might be a tiny square or a generous space with a window. Usually, these spaces are over-looked and under used. Bespoke design and manufacture can help turn this space into valuable floor space.
With more people working at home a landing could be turned into a useful workspace. A combination of desk and shelving/storage or just a desk can be incorporated into the space. A contoured desk is a good way of creating a larger workspace.
If you have a window or a gorgeous view a window seat with or without built in storage is a beautiful way to create a calm space for reading, relaxing or simply taking in the view. This could be built using a choice of materials and there are wide ranges of colour options. We can colour match anything we make to match existing décor, fabrics or existing furniture.
Can anyone ever have enough storage? Made to measure, bespoke units can be built for any shape or size of space. Units can be built that go up to the ceiling making the storage extremely practical. Wide ranges of internal fit out options are available. Mirrors and lighting can be incorporated into storage solutions and shelving.
Shelving is also another option, this again can be floor to ceiling to maximize storage, shelf heights can be varied as can the depth of the shelves, perfect for housing a large book collection. If you have a long, thin landing where there’s little room for seating or other furniture, there might be enough space for a built in narrow storage solution.
If you don’t have the floor space a wall-mounted maybe an option, a desk could be incorporated creating a much-needed workspace that can be neatly tucked away when not needed.
