Sunday 6 December
People just love to add festive touches to their home, especially around the winter season. Not only does it get you in the mood for Christmas, but it also brightens up your home when the weather is cold and miserable. On the other hand you can go a bit overboard with too many decorations. Here are some tips on how to keep your kitchen’s festive makeover classy, yet perfect for all those festive parties and events.
Festive Tableware
For starters, why not swap out your ordinary table cloth for a festive themed one. You don’t have to go too overboard with this, a few Santa’s and a few snowmen wouldn’t go a miss but don’t make it too cluttered. Choose two colours, preferably red and green and match them with some plates you use. As well as soup bowls, cutlery and other bits and bobs.
Candles
Why not add that extra glow to your kitchen? Instead of the overpowering ceiling lights, add some candles. They either could be LED or wax depending on your preference but keep in mind a relaxing and intimate environment is the best setting.
Flowers
One of the main ways you can get your kitchen ready for the festive period is to alternate or add the type of flowers to a more Christmas themed one. Incorporate some red, greens and the occasional yellows to contrast alongside your other Christmas themed decorations.
Garlands & Wreaths
There’s not much more that says Christmas than a festive garland or wreath. Artificial ones will be a lot better for your home as they don’t moult; they look particularly well on window sills and doors. To add that little more brightness, how about adding some fairy lights and wrap them around the garland/wreath.
Added Extras
From a Christmas themed tea towel, to matching bows tied around your cabinet handles or even a little Santa ornament, adding these little things can change the whole theme of your room. Just make sure that you don’t go overboard and make your kitchen look cluttered or busy.
Hopefully this blog has got you in the Christmas mood and inspired you to decorate your kitchen.
