Stanton Bespoke with Inset Walnut

The Brief

The customers remodeled and extended their 1960’s home to create an open plan kitchen, dining and living space at the rear of the property. They wanted to create a welcoming family kitchen with a nod to the original style, but with a more modern aesthetic. A large island was a must, as was a pantry cupboard with pocket doors and also space for an American style fridge-freezer. The customer also wanted a bespoke colour to make their kitchen truly unique.

The Solution

We utilized a long internal wall to house the main appliances and storage solutions, including two full height pull-out larder units, the aforementioned fridge-freezer, sink, dishwasher, hidden bin drawer and two stacked ovens. At the end of this run we designed a pantry cupboard with hiding pocket doors and integral lighting. This includes space for the family’s smaller appliances such as the toaster and Kitchen Aid mixer and creates a useful breakfast and baking area, which can be closed off and hidden from view as required.

A large central island was also designed, measuring 1.2 m x 3.6m, which includes an induction hob with flush extractor above and lots more storage for pots, pans, crockery and other essentials. There is also space for the family of four to all sit around the island at the far end.

Key Design Features

The inset walnut handle detail was a nod to the original kitchen, dating back to when the house was first built. The units were sprayed in our own workshop in the customers chosen colour, a beautiful dark teal, which is really eye catching and sets off the walnut handle detail really well.

The pantry cupboard was designed to the customers own specifications with two large drawers for snacks and general kitchen paraphernalia and under-lit shelving for displaying jars and dishes and to create some task lighting.
