The Brief
This couple have lived in their family home in Stanton on Wolds for many, many years and they decided that after 30 years it was time to upgrade their kitchen. Though the kitchen was dated it was familiar. Familiarity was really important for this customer as one member of the family is blind. The customer wanted something that looked good, was a more modern design but still worked practically for them. The old kitchen had a large central table and they wanted to replace it with a kitchen island.
The Solution
The customers choose the classic Fine Finish Newton Smooth Painted and Natural Oak Units with chrome bar handles. The customer chose a range of base, wall and island units along with a large oak custom larder.
The worktops are a combination of Dekton, the colour is Danae and Oak Block. The oak worktops have been used in the lesser used areas and the Dekton in the more hardworking areas of the kitchen.
The sink is a large 1.75 bowl stainless steel sink from Kohler. A Zip hot tap was fitted as part of the kitchen re-fit. Due to the needs of the client this was fitted to the side of the main sink and not part of the main taps. Having the tap at the side of the sink allows the customer to place a cup at the base of the tap rather than holding it to fill it, which is safer.
Functionality and practicality are very important in this kitchen, several units have been fitted with Kossebohmer storage units including 300 base unit pull outs, corner storage solutions and 150 pull out units.
The large island is orientated towards the garden and seats 2/3 at the feature round oak table at the end of the breakfast bar. The dresser/bespoke glazed unit at the back of the kitchen has built in lighting.
Design Features
This kitchen is very bespoke for a specific reason the sink, fridge, ovens and hob are all in close proximity to one another this is to make the kitchen easier for the customer to use.
