The Brief
This couple’s home was unfortunately flooded and suffered substantial damage; the kitchen needed to be replaced. They liked the kitchen that had been damaged, it worked well for them so they decided to replace it with something similar. They wanted a large American style fridge/freezer with wraparound units and a bespoke built in matching dresser. They also wanted an area for making coffee and plenty of accessible storage.
The Solution
The customer choose Cossington In Frame units in Alabaster. The floor to ceiling units have oak cornice as does the dresser. The dresser has an oak top, units with glazed doors and integrated cool white spot lighting.
The main kitchen worktops, upstands and cooker splash back are Ivory Wave Granite. The cupboard and draw handles are rubbed bronze. The customers existing sink and taps have been re-fitted into the new kitchen.
The kitchen has several storage solutions including a Le Mans corner solution. There is a slim line wine cooler fridge tucked away next to the large fridge/freezer.
Key Design Feature
This is not an off the shelf kitchen, the units are not modular they are single frame. In Frame kitchens are built using traditional carpentry and are usually 15 – 30% more expensive because of the additional materials needed and the time taken to construct.
Also of note is the units have been built around the kitchen window. These are open units/shelving providing a useful space for cookery books. There are integrated spotlights in the plinth above.
Top Tips
Regardless of the style of the kitchen the one thing we hear a lot from our clients is that they would like or they need more storage. There is a wide range of storage solutions available for inside units that make them more accessible, useful spaces. When planning your kitchen think about what you need to store, do you need drawers, wall units, base units etc.
