The Brief:
This study has been designed and built to fit a large landing space at the top of the stairs. It was the last project within the recently re-modelled home of our customer. The family home in Bunny, Nottingham had undergone a large renovation programme. The homeowners wanted a quite space where their children could study, a place for occasional home working and somewhere to organise and store personnel papers. They wanted a contemporary, modern look.
The Solution:
The clients knew that they wanted to use Olive Ash veneered wood to build the units. The Fine Finish design team designed the area, which includes filing drawers, desk with space for two people to sit, bookcase, cupboards and a deep corner unit to house a printer. The units are all handmade to fit the space; there are no standard sizes or styles. All the cupboards and drawers are handless and soft close. The desktop is a laminate with a wooden edge.
Key Design Features:
This design shows the possibilities of making a potentially under utilised space very useful. The handless drawers and cupboards add to the sleek, smooth lines and the overall contemporary design.
Top Tip:
The inclusion of the unusual shaped open bookcase provides interest to the design and helps pull the area together plus it gives more storage and display space, provides interest to the area, with space to display personnel items.
